Publication Ethics

Journal of English Language Teaching, Literature and Linguistics (ELLITS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. All parties involved in the publishing process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must adhere to ethical behavior standards.

This statement is based on the COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

1. Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their work is original and that all sources are properly cited. Plagiarism in any form is unethical and unacceptable.

  • Multiple Submissions: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.

  • Authorship of the Paper: Only those who have made significant contributions to the research and writing should be listed as authors. Others who contributed in supporting roles should be acknowledged.

  • Disclosure of Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

  • Reporting Standards: Authors should present their research accurately and objectively, with sufficient detail and references to permit replication.

  • Correction of Errors: When authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obligated to notify the journal editors or publisher and cooperate to correct the paper.

2. Duties of Editors

  • Fair Play: Editors evaluate manuscripts for intellectual content without regard to race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s consent.

  • Editorial Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which articles are suitable for publication based on the quality, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and reviewers’ comments.

3. Duties of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, and observations should be stated clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions.

4. Publisher’s Responsibilities

  • Handling Unethical Behavior: The publisher will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred. In cases of suspected misconduct, the journal will follow COPE guidelines in dealing with such issues.

  • Ensuring Academic Integrity: The publisher works closely with editors to maintain the integrity of the academic record, ensuring that corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies are issued when necessary.
