Journal of English Language Teaching, Literature and Linguistics (ELLITS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal that publishes high-quality empirical and theoretical research in the fields of Education, English Language Teaching, Linguistics, and Literature. ELLITS aims to become a leading forum for the exchange of ideas and scholarly discourse among researchers, educators, and practitioners in the related fields.
The journal welcomes articles focusing on:
-
English Language Teaching and Learning (as a second or foreign language)
-
Linguistic analysis, applied linguistics, and discourse studies
-
Literary criticism, literary theory, and comparative literature
-
Curriculum development and instructional design in English education
-

-
Sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and educational linguistics
In addition to original research articles, ELLITS also accepts book reviews and selected papers presented at academic conferences, provided they go through the same rigorous peer-review process.
The journal publishes four issues per year (quarterly) and accepts submissions in both English and Bahasa Indonesia. Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. If the manuscript has been uploaded to a preprint server or institutional repository, the link must be included during submission.
Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo open peer review by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the field. Authors are encouraged to suggest up to 10 potential reviewers (including name, title, institution, address, and email), and may also request that a maximum of 5 reviewers be excluded, with clear justification.
Reviewers must:
-
Have a valid ORCID ID or Google Scholar profile
-
Be affiliated with a different institution from the authors
-
Not have any conflict of interest with the submitted manuscript
The editorial board may also invite reviewers from reputable publishers (e.g., Wiley, Elsevier, Springer) and is not obligated to follow author suggestions.
The editorial decision—acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection—is based on the originality, significance, accuracy, clarity, and alignment of the article with the journal’s scope. Authors will receive the review outcome via email, and revisions must be submitted within 8 weeks.
All submissions are screened using Turnitin and/or iThenticate to ensure originality.
ELLITS does not charge any submission or article processing fees (free of charge for authors at all stages of the publication process).
